Scrambler rescued from 2nd Flatiron

An 18-year-old man from Lafayette was rescued from the 2nd Flatiron Wednesday evening after falling 15 feet, officials said.

First responders were dispatched to the 2nd Flatiron in Boulder just before 6 p.m. after learning a man fell while scrambling, according to a release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the man, who was with three friends, fell but was slowed on the way down by one of those friends, who was in a tree below him.

City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks rangers arrived on-scene and were accompanied by the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group. They located the man and stabilized him before placing him in a stretcher and carrying him to an ambulance, according to the release.

The man was evaluated by American Medical Response and later transported him to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
