Denver weather: Smoke from out-of-state fires continues to cloud skies

Haze is expected again in Denver as smoke wafts across the sky from fires burning on the West Coast, the National Weather Service in Boulder said.

Temperatures are expected to reach 93 degrees with moderate breezes between 12 and 15 mph and chances of afternoon thunderstorms, the agency said.

Chances of rain and thunderstorms are at a 40% chance after 3 p.m., the weather service said.

Storms are likely to continue before 10 p.m. at a 20% chance, the weather service said.

Overnight temperatures are forecast around a low of 61 degrees, the agency said.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the 80s and 90s all week with slight chances afternoon thunderstorms likely to persist, the weather service said.

Here’s an extended forecast from the National Weather Service:

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 87 degrees and winds between 5 to 9 mph. Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between noon and 3 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms likely after 3 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87 degrees. A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Light and variable wind becoming east northeast 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 91 degrees. A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 93 degrees. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon.
