Idaho Springs police have obtained an arrest warrant for a man accused of driving a vehicle into a home before fleeing the scene.
The incident occurred early Saturday in the 1500 block of Colorado Boulevard.
Police said 60-year-old Daniel Martinez of Empire struck a flower container before hitting the house. He then backed out and hit a parked car before leaving the area.
No one was injured even though people were inside the house when the vehicle struck the home, police said.
Later that morning, deputies were dispatched near Empire, where they spoke to Martinez, who wanted to report his truck as stolen. After further questioning, Martinez confessed to driving his vehicle into the home in Idaho Springs, police said.
The deputy shared the confession with an on-duty supervisor, who determined that deputies needed to gather more evidence before arresting Martinez, said Nate Buseck of the Idaho Springs Police Department.
Anyone with information on Martinez’s whereabouts is urged to call 911.
