Japanese automaker Nissan announced Monday it would cease exporting vehicles to Russia, planning to end production at its St. Petersburg factory.

Nissan is also set to donate roughly 2.5 million euros, or $2.75 million, to aid relief efforts in Ukraine, according to a report.

“We have all been moved by the suffering of so many people and families — including members of our own Nissan family,” said CEO Makoto Uchida. “We have created the Nissan Cares fund to stand by our employees, and to support the international efforts working around the clock to respond to this immeasurable human tragedy.”

At least 1 million euros are being donated by the Japanese automaker to the Red Cross directly, and an additional 1.5 million euros will be given to help regional staff pay expenses, the report noted.

Nissan joins automakers Ford and General Motors in their efforts to stymie business operations in Russia following the invasion of Ukraine, according to the report.

However, Nissan’s partner Renault is currently involved with close to 40% of vehicle production in Russia and has only lowered its output due to supply-chain disruptions, according to the report.
