Fantasy football: 2022 dynasty rookie mock draft including defensive players (IDP)

Here is a rookie mock draft to help you in a dynasty fantasy football league with individual defensive players. This is a draft of rookies, but remember that the dynasty teams also are drafting for need.

The owners in this league are sharp and they are located all over the country (no homer picks). The draft was held a few weeks ago during the Avs playoff run, so I waited to share it. If there have been injuries or key signings, please take that into account.

This list usually unearths a few sleepers throughout the season as you can see by these previous posts (2021, 2020 ,2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016).

As you will see, I was aggressive in acquiring picks in this draft.

NOTE: This league does not award a point per reception.

Jets Football

Jets running back Breece Hall takes part in drills June 14 in Florham Park, N.J.

1.01 Breece Hall, NYJ RB

1.02 Kenneth Walker III, SEA RB

1.03 Drake London, ATL WR

1.04 Treylon Burks, TEN WR

Jaguars Football

Jacksonville Jaguars inside linebacker Devin Lloyd (33) performs a drill at NFL football rookie minicamp, May 14, in Jacksonville, Fla.

1.05 Devin Lloyd, Devin JAC LB MY PICK: Admittedly too early for a linebacker, but I wanted to get a top guy, and I was hoping for a receiver at the end of the round.

1.06 Garrett Wilson, NYJ WR

1.07 Jameson Williams, DET WR

1.08 Chris Olave, NOS WR

1.09 Dameon Pierce, HOU RB

1.10 Skyy Moore, KCC WR MY PICK: Hamstring injury doesn’t have me too worried as long as it doesn’t linger into camp. Long-term, I’m happy to get a playmaker on the Chiefs.

1.11 Christian Watson, GBP WR MY PICK: The rumors about the Packers adding a veteran receiver (Julio Jones) don’t hurt Watson’s long-term projection.

1.12 James Cook, BUF RB

2.01 George Pickens, PIT WR

2.02 Isaiah Spiller, LAC RB

2.03 Jahan Dotson, WAS WR

2.04 Nakobe Dean, PHI LB

Lions Football

Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson runs during an NFL football practice in Allen Park, Mich., June 2.

2.05 Aidan Hutchinson, DET DE MY PICK: I like to be on the front of position runs and felt it was time for the first defensive end to be taken.

2.06 Geroge Karlaftis, KCC DE MY PICK: Wanted a second DE based on my roster and was disappointed to see Thibodeaux was listed as a linebacker. The scoring in this league rewards tackles for linebackers.

2.07 Quay Walker, Quay GBP LB

2.08 Rachaad White, TBB RB

2.09 Kayvon Thibodeaux, NYG LB

2.10 Zamir White, LVR RB

2.11 Tyrion Davis-Price, SFO RB

2.12 Kyle Hamilton, BAL S

3.01 Travon Walker, JAC DE

3.02 John Metchie, HOU WR

3.03 Tyler Allgeier, ATL RB

3.04 Alec Pierce, IND WR

3.05 David Bell, CLE WR

3.06 Troy Andersen, ATL LB

3.07 Trey McBride, ARI TE

3.08 Kenny Pickett, PIT QB

3.09 Jermaine Johnson, NYJ DE

3.10 Jalen Tolbert, DAL WR

3.11 Greg Dulcich, DEN TE

3.12 Chrisian Harris, HOU LB

4.01 Keaontay Ingram, ARI RB

4.02 Brian Robinson, WAS RB

4.03 Lewis Cine, MIN S

4.04 Jaquan Brisker, CHI S

4.05 Channing Tindall, MIA LB MY PICK: His 4.47 time in the 40 was too hard to ignore this late in the draft. I don’t expect much this season. This was low-risk, high-reward.

4.06 Tyquan Thornton, NEP WR

4.07 Malcolm Rodriguez, DET LB

4.08 David Ojabo, BAL LB

4.09 Romeo Doubs, GBP WR

4.10 Wan’Dale Robinson, NYG WR

4.11 Brian Asamoah, MIN LB

Titans Football

Tennessee Titans quarterback Malik Willis takes part in a drill at the NFL football team’s practice facility, May 24, in Nashville, Tenn.

4.12 Malik Willis, TEN QB MY PICK: I traded back into the draft to take Willis. His talent makes him a low-risk fantasy option. If he plays this season, it would be stunning.

5.01 Boye Mafe, SEA DE

5.02 Chad Muma, JAC LB

5.03 Leo Chenal, KCC LB

5.04 Daxton Hill, CIN S

5.05 Jashaun Corbin, NYG RB MY PICK: He is currently listed as third on the depth chart. At this point in the draft, I wanted to take at least one RB.

5.06 Matt Corral, CAR QB

5.07 Justyn Ross, KCC WR

5.08 Jelani Woods, IND TE

5.09 Desmond Ridder, ATL QB

5.10 Khalil Shakir, BUF WR

5.11 Kyle Philips, TEN WR

49ers Rookie Camp Football

San Francisco’s Drake Jackson runs a drill at the NFL team’s rookie minicamp in Santa Clara, Calif., May 13.

5.12 Drake Jackson, SFO DE MY PICK: As you can tell by my previous picks, I like to draft defense and then use my fantasy budget on offense. San Francisco has a history of developing D-lineman, and they did use pick 61 on him.
