'I get arrested for real!': Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich slams AOC

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich took a shot at Democratic firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s arrest earlier this week, claiming she pretended to be handcuffed while he gets “arrested for real,” referencing his 2011 convictions for corruption.

“AOC pretends to be handcuffed. At least when I get arrested, I get arrested for real!” he wrote in a Thursday tweet.

The congresswoman insists that she did not pretend to be handcuffed when she was arrested by Capitol Police Tuesday. However, many social media users continue to accuse her of just that.

“No faking here. Putting your hands behind your back is a best practice while detained, handcuffed or not, to avoid escalating charges like resisting arrest,” she posted on social media Wednesday.

The former governor was arrested in 2008 when prosecutors accused him of both corruption and campaign finance violations. He was impeached soon after. In 2011, Blagojevich was found guilty of 17 out of 20 felony counts of corruption.
