Denver weather: Steep cooldown Wednesday following record-setting heat
Denver is expected to see a dramatic drop in temperatures Wednesday just one day after setting a new record for the number of 90-degree days in September, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
Wednesday could see a high near 61 as chances of showers and thunderstorms increase, with rain “likely” after 1 p.m. Temps could dip to around 57 by 5 p.m.
Tuesday was the 10th 90-degree-or-hotter day this month, beating the previous September record of nine straight days of 90-degree weather set in 2018, 2017, 2005 and 1895. The NWS said 2022 has seen 67 days with temps at or above 90 so far.
The cooling trend and more rainfall could continue into Thursday, when temps are expected to reach a high near 65.
