WATCH: Riley Gaines teams up with Rand Paul to combat biological men in women’s sports

Collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines has teamed up with Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) in the fight against biological men who identify as transgender women competing against biological women in sports.

“I trained from an early age, giving it my all to achieve my dream,” Riley Gaines said in a campaign ad for the senator.

“And I accomplished it, becoming a 12-time All-American swimmer at the University of Kentucky. But for girls across America, that dream is being taken away by men competing in women’s sports. Sadly, few stood up for me,” Gaines added.

The duo appeared on Fox News Wednesday to talk more about the crisis in women’s sports.

“It’s sort of like this mafia out there, trying to control language,” Sen. Paul said. “But it’s also, if you talked to the regular people of Kentucky or of America, ask them: Should a 6’3″ man be competing against women? Most people don’t think that’s fair. So, I’m proud of Riley for standing up. We ought to stand up also, those who are in charge of the country, to say, ‘Enough is enough. This is foolish, and we’re not going to let it happen,'” he continued.

Sen. Paul said one resolution could be to hit colleges financially.

“There’s been discussion of colleges and their tax-exempt status. There’s all kinds of ways this can be looked at. Title IX is another way this can be looked at. Women’s sports were largely created because we wanted to have fairness. This was 30 or 40 years ago, and women’s sports were developed. You know, I come from a family with a lot of college athletes, particularly women. It’s just not fair.”

Gaines says despite what you may hear in the media, she has received a lot of support.

“I actually had a ton of Leah Thomas’s teammates reach out to me personally and thank me for what I’m doing, because this is something they deal with every single day. But, of course, they are intimidated, they’re threatened, they’re emotionally blackmailed. I have so many examples of what the Ivy League schools said to their swimmers in hopes to not get them to speak out. One of those examples being an email sent to the Ivy League swimmers saying, ‘If you feel uncomfortable changing in an area where you will see male genitalia, here are some resources, and you seek counseling.'”

“This isn’t about hate, this is about fairness,” Sen. Paul said. “This is about that women should get to compete against women.”
