I-70 eastbound lanes closed after fatal accident

A fatal crash near Eisenhower Tunnel closed I-70’s eastbound lanes around mile marker 211, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

The collision occurred between a box truck and semi-truck, killing a passenger in one of the trucks. A CSP spokesperson said fault is likely on the box truck’s driver, but the investigation is ongoing. CSP got the first call at 12:03 p.m.

Both vehicle’s drivers refused medical treatment, CSP said.

Authorities are diverting traffic to Loveland Pass via U.S. 6.
