In-person Girl Scout cookie sales begin this weekend in Colorado, here’s where to find them

The Girl Scouts of Colorado hit the streets to sell their iconic boxes of cookies this weekend across the state.

Coloradans can buy fan favorites like Thin Mints, Samoas and Dos-Si-Dos from the young entrepreneurs starting Sunday through mid-March.

The price of cookies range from $5-6 per box, and every purchase helps fund the girls’ adventures throughout the year.

This year, the Girl Scouts unveiled the newest flavor, the Raspberry Rally, a thin and crispy raspberry infused cookie dipped in a chocolate coating. The new cookie is an online exclusive and will be available for purchase starting Feb. 27.

For those who looking to get their hands on a box ASAP, the Girl Scouts began taking online orders last month through their troops’ Digital Cookie storefront.

Girl Scouts of Colorado has about 16,000 members across the state in addition to 9,000 adult members and volunteers and 120 employees according to Leanna Clark, Girl Scouts of Colorado chief executive officer. Girls in the program have designed websites, which helps them learn coding and digital marketing skills, where they can take orders virtually. Money earned through these sales stays in Colorado and the scouts can use their money to fund travel, attend camps, work on service projects and more.

While most know Girl Scout cookies for their flavors, the actual sale of these cookies teaches the scouts about business and communication skills.

“It really is about so much more than the cookies themselves,” Clark said. “[The] Girl Scout Cookie Program is the world’s largest girl-led business, so essentially each and every one of our girls is running their own business when they sell cookies.”

Brooke Lowe, a 10-year-old girl scout in troop #68191, has been in her program for four years. Next summer, they are planning on going to Disneyland in California so she is trying to raise enough money by selling cookies for that trip. As a troop, their goal is to raise $4,000. Lowe’s personal goal is to raise $600, which she expects to be able to make based on her previous years of sales.

“My girl scout [experience] has been a pretty good time since I’ve been in it,” Lowe said.
