The Good and Bad from Denver Broncos’ comeback win over Chicago Bears

It took 24 unanswered points, but Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos are in the win column.
Here’s the good and bad from Denver’s 31-28 win Sunday in Chicago.
The Good
The Broncos have some fight.
After Justin Fields hit Khalil Herbert on a short touchdown pass that put the Bears up 28-7 with 4:11 in the third quarter, the Broncos were just about perfect.
Russell Wilson hit Brandon Johnson and Courtland Sutton for touchdowns to make it a one possession game. Denver’s defense stepped up and tied the game when Nik Bonitto stripped Fields, and Jonathon Cooper scooped up the ball and beat Fields to the end zone. On the next possession, Delarrin Turner-Yell and Cooper teamed up to stopped Herbert short on a fourth-and-one play.
Wilson got the Broncos in field goal position with a deep strike to Marvin Mims, and Wil Lutz hit the game-winning 51-yard field goal with just under two minutes remaining.
Kareem Jackson’s interception with 32 seconds left sealed Denver’s first win of the season.
The Bad
Fields turned it over late, but Denver’s defense let the Bears quarterback settle into the game with ease. The only incompletion of Fields’ first half was a Hail Mary on the final play of the second quarter. Fields started 16 for 16 with 231 yards and three touchdowns. The third-year quarterback finished with a career-high 335 passing yards. The four passing touchdowns also matched his previous best.
Chicago also rushed for 171 yards on 5.5 yards per carry. The Bears outgained the Broncos 471-311.
The Bears and Panthers still have the inside track at the No. 1 pick in the draft as the league’s only 0-4 teams. At 1-3, the Broncos remain at the bottom of the AFC West.
