Suspects utilized a forklift early Tuesday morning to rip an ATM from the walls of a southeast Colorado Springs credit union, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Police arrived on the scene of the Ent Credit Union on Jet Wing and Moonbeam drives at 5:40 a.m. to a mangled shell of an ATM, and the forklift still parked in the nearby lot.
Initial reports from police indicated the suspects got away with the ATM.
As of 10:52 p.m. a spokesperson with CSPD confirmed with Ent the ATM itself wasn’t “actually stolen” as the previous report had stated.
“The burglars badly damaged the ATM in attempt to steal and break into it,” Caitlin Ford, a CSPD spokesperson confirmed, “the machine itself was not successfully taken.”
At the time of this article, officials are still looking for a suspect description.
