Body parts stolen from crypt in Colorado, deputies say

The incident happened at the Crown Hill Cemetery, located at 7777 W. 29th Ave.

Someone broke into a private mausoleum in Jefferson County, pried open a casket and stole body parts, deputies announced Wednesday.

The incident happened overnight at the Crown Hill Cemetery, located at 7777 W. 29th Ave., and was reported at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said “unknown suspects” came into the cemetery during the night.

Deputies searched the area and said they found severe damage to the crypt and the casket that was inside.

“The casket, that housed the decedent’s remains, had been pried open and portions of the body were removed,” deputies said in a news release.

Investigators processed the mausoleum for evidence.

Deputies asked anyone with information about the crime to call the Jefferson County tip line at 303-271-5612.
