Denver man arrested on suspicion of murder at Regis Motel
Tali Frazier, 29, was arrested on Thursday
Denver police arrested a man on Thursday in connection with a September slaying at the Regis Motel. The suspect will face first-degree murder charges, police say.
29-year-old Tali Frazier was arrested on suspicion of murder in a slaying that happened at the Regis Motel at 8282 E. Colfax Ave. on Sept. 25, according to a press release by the police department. The slaying was one the main catalysts that lead to the closing of the motel, the first lodging license suspension in the city’s history.
Police responded to a shooting call around 1 a.m. on Sept. 25. The caller said there was a victim in the parking lot who had been running from upstairs and fell next to a gate, according to arrest records. The caller said he had heard glass break and saw the man running down the stairs before collapsing.
Upon arrival, officers found a man lying in the parking lot. The man had been shot in the chest, police said. Denver Fire and Denver Health paramedics attempted to save the victim, but he died on the scene. Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
A search of the victim’s motel room found one empty cartridge casing but no handgun. The window had been broken from the inside out and had the victim’s blood on it.
Multiple witnesses gave detectives information about the suspect, believing he shot the victim. The suspect was later identified as Frazier.
The Regis Motel was shut down by the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses on Sept. 29 following the slaying. There were an abundance of crimes — ranging from murder to drug dealing — at the motel, leading to the indefinite license suspension, officials said.
