PHOTOS: CubingUSA Rocky Mountain Championship

Cubers took part in the CubingUSA ‘Rubik’s Cube’ Rocky Mountain Championship Saturday and Sunday at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. The competition was organized and supported financially through Colorado Cubers, a non-profit organization that manages cubing competitions in Colorado.

Rubik's Cube solvers, otherwise known as
Rubik’s Cube solvers, otherwise known as “speed cubers,” solve the 3x3x3 cube during the first round of the Rocky Mountain Championship at the Colorado Convention Center on Saturday, Nov. 4. Each cuber gets five solves with each seeing the same scramble (messed up cube). The worst and best timed solves are denoted from the average. Top averages move on to the next round. Rubik’s Cube competition’s sometimes involve metamorphic-type puzzles like a Pyraminx, Megaminx, and bigger cubes up to 7x7x7.
