Aurora police seek information about Crystal Way homicide after one year

Jared Chavez, 41, was shot and killed one year ago

Aurora police detectives continue to search for answers in a homicide case that occurred a year ago.

The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit asked for any information or help from the public regarding a shooting that left 41-year-old Jared Chavez dead on Nov. 12, 2022. Detectives have “exhausted all leads,” according to a press release from the Aurora Police Department.

Officers responded to a shooting report in the 900 block of South Crystal Way around 3 a.m. Upon arrival, responders found a man lying on the sidewalk. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim, Chavez, was a resident at the apartments. Investigations found that the shooting had started as an argument between Chavez and the unknown suspect, according to the release.

Anyone with any information about the suspect or incident is asked to call Detective Raines at 303-739-6068. The department is offering an award of up to $2,000.
