Douglas County issues shelter-in-place order due to escaped suspect

Deputies have shut down parts of Douglas County as they search for a potentially armed and dangerous man who escaped Weld County custody.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place order for all residents in the Larkspur area of Fox Farm Rd. and Spruce Mountain Rd. around 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Deputies and the Douglas County Regional SWAT team continue to search for 27-year-old Luis Fernando Certa-Regaldo, who escaped from Weld County.

Certa-Regaldo was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, obstruction and attempting to influence law enforcement, according to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office. He is considered to be possibly armed.

He was last seen wearing a black and red checkered jacket, blue jeans and a dark colored baseball cap, according to the sheriff’s office. Anyone who sees him is asked not to approach him, but to call 911.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Those with information can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
