One dead in Adams County pedestrian crash
Nearby roads were closed for nearly four hours during investigation
A fatal crash between an automobile and a pedestrian left a person dead in unincorporated Adams County on Thursday morning.
Colorado State Patrol officers responded to a report of a crash in the area of Federal Boulevard and 60th Avenue around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, according to a social media post by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. The post noted that the crash had been fatal, but did not provide many other details.
The office stated that Colorado State Patrol would be conducting an investigation in the area and would be shutting down northbound Federal Boulevard. Alternate routes were advised.
The road closure lasted until around 7 a.m.
While overall fatal crashes in the state are lowering, pedestrian fatalities are on the rise.
There have been 494 fatal crashes in Colorado between the beginning of 2023 and the beginning of November, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Of those, 94 involved a pedestrian.
For comparison, there were 599 fatal crashes in the same time period in 2022. Out of those crashes, 83 of those involved a pedestrian.
