No charges after attempted robbery suspect fatally stabbed in Broomfield

No charges will be filed in connection with the October fatal stabbing of an attempted robbery suspect in Broomfield.

Broomfield Police said that officers responded about 3 p.m. on Oct. 11 to a report of a stabbing in the 3900 block of Cambridge Avenue in the Brandywine neighborhood. When they arrived on the scene, officers found a man dead inside the home.

The man, identified as Trenten Hansen, 30, was a suspect in a daytime robbery, police said.

Two adults were inside the home during the robbery, and one of them fatally stabbed Hansen. One of the residents sustained minor injuries, according to police.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Broomfield Police said they had completed their investigation and turned the case over to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges were appropriate.

A spokesman for the DA’s office said that no charges will be filed in the case.
