4 dead after overnight shooting in rural El Paso County
Four people are dead after an overnight shooting in unincorporated northeast El Paso County, the Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the call came in for a shooting Wednesday around 11:40 p.m. Responding deputies found a man with non-life-threatening injuries outside the 21000 block of Akawi Way, located about eight miles northeast of Peyton.
Deputies called for the Tactical Support Group that includes SWAT to enter the address. The Sheriff’s Office says SWAT found four people dead inside, none of whom have been identified. The deaths likely occurred before deputies arrived, according to the preliminary investigation.
The relationship between the people killed has not been determined, the Sheriff’s Office said Thursday. All involved people have been accounted for, and there was no threat to the public.
One nearby resident said she received a phone alert about a situation at the house late Wednesday, but otherwise it was a quiet night in the neighborhood.

Law enforcement cleared the scene by around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Earlier, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region took away an unknown number of dogs.
The two-story home, known by some as the “pretty doll house” amid others that are mostly farm style in the subdivision, is located in a cul-de-sac with the nearest neighbor a few hundred yards away.
