RiNo Art District hires new facilities/events manager
RiNo Art District created a new position, facilities and events manager, and then tapped Robert Gray to fill it.
Gray will be charged with managing daily activities, events and any facilities operated by the district.
His experience comes as an art dealer and curator, having worked for the Denver Art Museum and Denver Arts & Venues. During his time with the city of Denver, he curated all arts programming for the 2021 MLB All Star Game, with murals of Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays and Hank Aaron in the city’s Five Points neighborhood.
“As a seasoned art dealer and curator, RiNo Art District has been fortunate to work with Robert in a variety of endeavors through the years, so when he expressed interest in spearheading our facilities and events with the district, we were thrilled,” said Charity Von Guinness, executive director of RiNo Art District, in a news release. “Robert’s strong connection to RiNo’s mission, coupled with his shared dedication to supporting access, collaboration, and education across the arts community, along with his extensive experience activating spaces with creative arts programming and installations, made him an ideal fit for this role.”
The district is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization “dedicated to fostering a welcoming, creative community where a diversity of artists, residents and businesses thrive.”
“I’ve been fortunate to share more public art across the city, and ArtPark is one of my favorite green spaces in the city,” Gray said in the release. “I’m excited to help it grow and bring in more creative talent and pieces for the community to experience.”
DIA’S new chief of staff
Denver International Airport CEO Phil Washington named Maria G. Meleandez as chief of staff, beginning Jan. 8.
Meleandez most recently served as the deputy executive officer for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Washington was the former CEO of LA Metro before being appointed to his current role in 2021.
“Maria has a long and successful history of fostering inclusive environments,” Washington said in a news release. “With the many critical initiatives we have underway at DEN, she is the ideal leader to ensure that we are moving projects and initiatives forward efficiently and with thoughtful and comprehensive input.”
Meleandez will oversee the airport’s Government Affairs and Global Public Policy, Culture and Strategy and the Center of Equity and Excellence in Aviation departments.
Airport officials just broke ground on the Center of Equity and Excellence earlier this month.
