Fort Collins Police are searching for the suspect vehicle in a crash that killed a man riding a scooter Thursday night.

Around 8:56 p.m., police said officers responded to a report of a crash in the 2100 block of South Taft Hill Road.

Officers found a man in the road with serious injuries who was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators determined a dark-colored SUV, believed to be a black 2008-2010 Nissan Rouge, was going north on Taft Hill Road when the driver hit the man while he was riding the scooter in the bike lane.

The driver did not stay at the scene and was last seen going north on South Taft Hill Road at West Prospect Road.

Police said the suspect vehicle will have front-end damage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 970-416-2229.

South Taft Hill Road was closed for about six hours between Valley Forge Avenue and Stuart Street while police investigated.
