Burglary suspect taken to hospital, dog dies after house fire
Damage was minimal and most of the fire was contained to a downstairs couch, according to Adams County Fire Rescue
A suspected burglar started a fire inside an Adams County home early Wednesday morning and was later taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation, according to a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
Adams County Fire Rescue responded to the home in the 2600 block of West 80th Avenue along with the sheriff’s office at 2:20 a.m. According to the fire department, one person was taken to the hospital. The sheriff’s office said that person was a suspect in a burglary at the residence and is in their custody.
A dog was also removed from the home and died from its injuries, the fire department said. A second dog was also taken from the home, a spokesperson for the fire the department didn’t have information about its condition.
The fire is out and most of the damage to the home was minimal and was mostly contained to a couch in the downstairs area, according to Adams County Fire.
Fire investigators as well as investigators from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office remain on the scene. At this time it’s believed that the burglary suspect started the fire inside the home. Sheriff’s office investigators are working to determine if the suspect is connected to any other burglaries in the area.
