‘Premier’ expo for fishing, hunting and more stopping in Colorado

A celebration of fishing, hunting, camping and more is returning to downtown Denver.

From Thursday through Sunday, the Colorado Convention Center will host International Sportsmen’s Expo, which calls itself the “premier” show provider of its kind stopping in this state, Utah and California. The events are said to reach more than 30,000 people over their four-day runs and draw hundreds of companies showing the latest and greatest gear.

Colorado Convention Center’s halls will also host several pros presenting on a variety of topics. The schedule lists presentations for training your hunting dog, for winter camping, for beginner falconry, for fly fishing around Rocky Mountain National Park and the “best trails and how to find them.”

International Sportsmen's Expos

International Sportsmen’s Expos is coming to the Colorado Convention Center from Jan. 11-14.

In a news release, Colorado Parks and Wildlife described the expo as a chance “to preview new outdoor gear, learn new casting techniques, see what lodges offer, look at live raptors up close and find new places to explore in Colorado.”

The floor plan shows a hatchery trailer, a “pond” for catching and releasing, a climbing wall, a fly tying theater and a booth for admiring birds of prey. CPW will represent over the weekend, among other educators said to align with the state agency’s mission “to educate outdoor enthusiasts on how to balance outdoor recreation with mindful conservation.” Tickets at sportsexpos.com are listed at $16. Kids younger than 15 get in for free, as do active military who show an ID. A limited number of free tickets are available for veterans at vettix.com. CPW is offering $3 off coupons at cpw.state.co.us/Pages/ISE.aspx. The show will run from noon-7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
