The Denver Gazette makes list of fastest-growing digital companies in the U.S.

The Denver Gazette has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing digital sites in the country by Similarweb, a data analytics company that tracks web traffic around the globe.

The Denver Gazette was one of the Top 10 news and media sites on Similarweb’s Digital 100 list, posting a 535.7% growth year over year for an annual readership of 27.4 million people.

“I wanted to say congratulations for Denver Gazette making Similar Web’s Digital 100 in the news & media category,” Miller Tring, senior business development manager for OpenWeb, which manages the Digital 100 list, said in an email. “Over 500% growth in a down year is incredible.”

“We’ve really had a breakthrough year for the Denver Gazette in 2023, and it’s nice to see that recognized by a national digital organization like this,” said Vince Bzdek, executive editor of The Denver Gazette. “Our brand of accountability journalism is certainly gaining traction in Denver.”

The Denver Gazette was launched as a full-service digital newspaper three years ago to reestablish a locally owned newspaper in the Denver market and bring a wider range of journalistic voices to the metro area.

Similarweb tracks web analytics and web traffic of major media outlets in the country, including most of the biggest sites in Colorado, such as 9News, Colorado Public Radio and The Denver Post. The Denver Gazette is the only Colorado media company on The Digital 100’s list of the fastest-growing digital companies.

To identify the winners, Similar Web analyzed traffic data to websites with over 100,000 monthly visits in 2023 for 10 categories, ranking the 100 websites with the largest year-over-year increase on desktop and mobile web devices in the U.S. in 2023 versus 2022.
