After having replaced the legendary Bill Belichick as New England’s head coach, Jerod Mayo is assembling his staff. And it could include Christian Parker.
The Patriots interviewed the Broncos defensive backs coach Friday to be their defensive coordinator. Parker, 32, recently completed his third season with Denver.
Mayo, 37, took over for Belichick, 71, last week as the Patriots and the six-time Super Bowl winning coach agreed to mutually part ways after 24 seasons.
Parker was hired by then Broncos coach Vic Fangio in February 2021. He spent 2021 under Fangio, 2022 under Nathaniel Hackett and interim head coach Jerry Rosburg and last season under current coach Sean Payton.
Parker has overseen a strong secondary in his three Denver seasons. During that time, cornerback Pat Surtain II has made two Pro Bowls and gotten one first-team All-Pro nod. And safety Justin Simmons has made one Pro Bowl and received three second-team All-Pro nods.
