$303,080 awarded to Colorado coalitions in Outdoor Regional Partnership grants

Governor Polis, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) announced the recipients of the third round of the Outdoor Regional Partnership grants.

CPW launched the initiative in 2020 with funding support from GOCO, and there are now 14 Colorado Outdoor Regional Partnerships. The program establishes collaborative partnerships across Colorado to “ensure that Colorado’s land, water, and wildlife thrive,” and works to provide equitable and quality outdoor recreation.

The grants are for outdoor recreation improvement, and “support coalitions that bring together conservation and outdoor recreation interests, land managers, and local government to ensure that Colorado’s land, water, and wildlife thrive while enhancing equitable access to Colorado’s world-class outdoors.”

The grants come as a result of an Executive Order signed by Governor Polis creating the Outdoor Regional Partnerships Initiative, charting a long-term, equitable and sustainable future for Colorado’s outdoors and outdoor recreation.

Four coalitions in Colorado’s central mountain region received grants. The Eagle County Community Wildlife Roundtable, an organization which addresses wildlife issues in Eagle County, received a grant of $75,000. Grand PLACES 2050, a coalition that manages Grand County’s natural and cultural resources in balance with outdoor recreation experiences, received $78,080.

The Roaring Fork Outdoor Coalition looks at regional recreation challenges to move toward coordinated management and solutions, and was awarded $75,000. The Summit County Outdoor Coalition aims to address issues in Summit County related to wildlife populations, recreation, and landscape-scale ecosystems, getting a grant of $75,000.
