Wolf Creek Pass closed due to rockslide

Wolf Creek Pass in southwestern Colorado closed Monday morning for multiple hours after a rockslide forced the highway closure.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) posted on X the west side of the pass was closed around 9:15 a.m. with no vehicles caught in the slide, CDOT said.

Wolf Creek Pass was closed from County Road 648 on the west to Forest Service Road 039 on the east, CDOT said, but reopened the pass to motorists with delays and one-lane alternating traffic. The westside closure was about 15 miles east of Pagosa Springs.

Large boulders and rock debris cover US-160 between the summit of Wolf Creek Pass and Pagosa Springs (Mile Point 162). A highway closure was put in place at approximately 9 a.m., Monday and there is no estimated time or reopening. (Colorado Department of Transportation)
