Fort Morgan’s Ryan Jensen retires after championship NFL career

Ryan Jensen made Fort Morgan and the rest of Colorado proud.

He won a Super Bowl along the way.

Jensen, an NFL veteran of 11 seasons, announced his retirement from football via social media Friday. The Fort Morgan High graduate and former CSU Pueblo star had battled a knee injury that limited him to one game over the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“With any chapter in the book of life, there is always an ending,” Jensen said on Instagram. “The NFL chapter of my life is coming to a close. As this chapter closes and I reflect on every aspect of my career, it makes me proud. In the hard times and the good, there is always something special to learn.

“Retiring from the game you have loved from a very young age is always hard. I am excited for this next chapter and the new opportunities and challenges it will bring.”

The Bucs responded on social media: “You mean more to Tampa Bay than you know” and added, “Go enjoy retirement!”

Jensen was the starting center for Tampa Bay’s 2020 Super Bowl champions. After an All-RMAC career at CSU Pueblo, he was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2013 draft. Jensen made the Pro Bowl in 2021.
