‘Winter weather’ alerts span much of Colorado with 2-plus feet of snow incoming
Coloradans are being warned of dangerous conditions on roads around the state that are expected this weekend with a big storm set to roll through.
Much of Colorado’s mountainous terrain is under either a ‘winter storm warning’ or a ‘winter storm advisory’ – either way, it’s looking like conditions will get dicey due to heavy snow, blowing winds, and potential whiteout conditions. It’s also worth noting that a ‘winter storm watch’ has been activated in the Denver metro area.
At last report, many of the state’s highest peaks should get up to 24 inches of snow through Sunday evening, with some peaks in the Steamboat Springs area and in southern Colorado potentially getting even more than that.

More problematic in terms of travel will be the 12-plus inches of snow expected in many mountain valleys and on major thoroughfares throughout the state, including I-70. Expect slow travel and delays.
