Forecaster calls for 35 inches at Colorado resort over next 5 days
Another chance of heavy snow is on the radar is on the radar for Colorado, according to the National Weather Service, adding to a first chance of heavy snow that’s expected in upcoming days that was mentioned last week.
The initial ‘risk of heavy snow’ was forecasted for February 7, encompassing the southwestern corner of the state. Granted, while a lot can change when a forecast is made days out, other forecasting services are calling for potential double-digit totals in this region between February 6 and 7. Keep an eye out for updates on that in hours and days to come.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has noted that February 10 will bring another chance for heavy snow in the same southwestern region, with this being the only ‘risk of heavy snow’ on the radar from that date until February 16.
The popular OpenSnow report echoes this prediction, noting that snow should start falling – favoring western and southern mountains – on Tuesday through the weekend. OpenSnow is calling for some pretty huge totals, too, expectant of 35 inches at Wolf Creek Ski Area over the next five days (find their full resort-by-resort breakdown here).
In other words, expect the snowy start to February in Colorado’s mountainous terrain to continue. The National Weather Service will likely release more specific details about total forecasted accumulations soon.
