Colorado dog shot and killed in alleged revenge plot
One man has been arrested after shooting a dog in an act of alleged revenge Monday evening, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Police said at around 8:42 p.m., officers received reports of shots fired near the 6400 block of Rocky Bluff Point.
Police on the scene learned the suspect, who has since been identified as Ryan Longo, had shot a dog without provocation.
Officials learned the dog named Zoey was being walked at the time by a friend of the owners.
Investigative efforts unveiled Zoey had been involved in a previous altercation with another dog weeks prior.
According to police, it appeared Longo had been plotting the act of revenge since. As soon as the person walking the dog identified her as Zoey, Longo shot the animal multiple times.
Longo was found at his residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
According to police department spokesperson Caitlin Ford, Zoey died as a result of her injuries.
