100-acre grass fire reported in Pueblo County; 50% contained
A large grass fire is burning Thursday near Boone, in the eastern part of Pueblo County, according to an X post from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
Seven fire agencies are responding to the “209Fire” just south of Hwy-96 and Boone, the sheriff’s office reported.
As of 2:18 p.m., the size of the fire is approximately 100 acres, with 50% containment. PCSO said the blaze is burning grass and spreading to trees at the bottom of the Arkansas River. The town of Boone is not threatened, according to the PCSO.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The agencies responding to the fire are Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Bureau, Pueblo City Fire, Pueblo West Fire, Pueblo Rural Fire, Pueblo Chemical Depot, Transportation Technology Center (TTCI) and Beulah Fire.
