Movie rundown for the weekend through Feb. 11
OPENING
“AXCN: Paprika — Satoshi Kon Fest” — (Animated, R, 90 minutes). Paprika, a young therapist, is the only person who can get back the stolen machine that allows therapists to enter patients’ dreams.
“Dune (2021)” Reissue — (Action, PG-13, 155 minutes). Grade: A, Katie Walsh. Paul Atreides travels to a dangerous planet to save his family and his people.
“How to Have Sex” — (Drama, not rated, 91 minutes). Three British teenage girls go drinking, clubbing and hooking up on a rites-of-passage vacation.
“Lisa Frankenstein” — (Comedy/Horror, PG-13, 111 minutes). After a teenager’s crush, who is a corpse, comes back to life, the two go on a journey to find happiness, love and some missing body parts.
“The Monk and The Gun” — (Drama, PG-13, 107 minutes). The king of the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan agrees to cede his power after the people vote for democracy.
“Out of Darkness” — (Horror, R, 87 minutes). A group of early humans must confront a mystical being who is hunting them during their search for new land.
“Peppa’s Cinema Party” — (Animated, not rated, 65 minutes). Ten never-before-seen Pella Pig episodes on the big screen.
“Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” — (Comedy, not rated, 132 minutes). Aryan meets the perfect girl but discovers that it’s an impossible love story.
“Turning Red” — (Animated, PG, 109 minutes, 2022, special theatrical engagement). It’s bad enough that 13-year old Mei Lee is dealing with changes in her body and relationships, but when she gets too excited she turns into a giant red panda.

“All of Us Strangers” — (Drama, R, 105 minutes). When a screenwriter returns to his childhood home he finds that his parents appear to be alive even though they died 30 years ago.
“American Fiction” — (Comedy, R, 117 minutes). A novelist who is upset with an establishment that is profiting from Black entertainment uses a pen name to write an outlandish “Black” book, only to find himself caught up in the madness and hypocrisy he claims to disdain.
“Anatomy of a Fall” — (Crime, R, 152 minutes). Being the sole witness to a murder, a blind son faces a moral dilemma when his mom is blamed for his father’s death.
“Anyone But You” — (Comedy, R, 103 minutes). Grade: C, Michael Phillips. After a great first date, something happens that turns Ben and Bea’s fiery attraction ice cold. But when they both show up at a wedding in Australia, they have no choice but to pretend to be a couple.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” — (Action, PG-13, 124 minutes). Grade: B-, Mark Kennedy. Aquaman and his imprisoned brother Orm must put their differences aside to defeat Black Manta and save the world from destruction.
“Argylle” — (Action, PG-13, 139 minutes). Grade: D, Katie Walsh. A spy novelist’s fictional and real world begin to blur together when her bestselling espionage novels start to mirror a real-life spy named Argylle.
“The Beekeeper” — (Action, R, 105 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. After being revealed to be a former operative for a secret and powerful organization known as Beekeepers, a man’s brutal crusade for vengeance takes on national stakes.
“The Boy and the Heron” — (Animation, PG-13, 124 minutes). Grade: A, Katie Walsh. In this semi-autobiographical fantasy from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki, a young boy ventures into a world of the living and the dead.
“The Boys in the Boat” — (Biography, PG-13, 124 minutes). Tells the story of the Depression-era beginnings of the University of Washington’s rowing team to the team’s win of gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
“The Chosen: Season 4 Episodes 1-3” — (Drama, not rated, 160 minutes). Episodes one to three of season four of the series about the life of Christ is shown on the big screen.
“The Color Purple” — (Drama, PG-13, 140 minutes). Based on the novel and Broadway musical, tells the story of how Celie finds hope and strength in the bonds of sisterhood on her journey to independence.
“Driving Madeleine” — (Drama, not rated, 91 minutes). When Madeleine calls a taxi to take her to the retirement home, she asks the taxi drive to first drive through Paris to the places that have been important in her life.
“Fighter” — (Action, not rated, 166 minutes). Two top Indian Air Force aviators form Air Dragons to battle their country’s external and internal forces when militant activities get out of control.
“Fitting In” — (Comedy, R, 100 minutes). A teen girl’s sex life is upended when she is diagnosed with a reproductive condition.
“The Iron Claw” — (Biography, R, 120 minutes). Grade: A-, Katie Walsh. The story of the Von Erich brothers and how they made history in the 1980s in the world of professional wrestling.
“I.S.S.” — (Sci-Fi, R, 95 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. When a conflict breaks out on Earth, tensions rise aboard the International Space Station and U.S. and Russian astronauts are told to take control of the station by any means necessary.
“Jungle Bunch: Operation Meltdown” — (Animated, PG, 89 minutes). The Jungle Bunch cross the globe to find a cure for their jungle’s sickness.
“Kismath” — (Not rated, 128 minutes). The easy life of three jobless engineers from a small village gets tough when they try to hide a money heist.
“Mean Girls” — (Comedy, PG-13, 112 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. New student Cady is in with the elite group at school called The Plastics until she makes the mistake of falling for the group leader’s ex-boyfriend.
“Migration” — (Animation, PG, 92 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. A duck family convinces their overprotective father to go on vacation and it turns out to be a family vacation like no other.
“Night Swim” — (Horror, PG-13, 98 minutes). After moving into a new home, a family is terrorized by a dark secret in the home’s past when they go swimming in the backyard pool.
“Oppenheimer” — (Biography, R, 180 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. The story of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s role in the development of the atomic bomb.
“Past Lives” — (Drama, PG-13, 105 minutes). Twenty years after being torn apart when Nora’s family emigrates from South Korea, Nora and her childhood friend Hae Sung are reunited.
“Poor Things” — (Drama, R, 141 minutes). After Bella Baxter is brought back to life by scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter, she stands steadfast in her purpose for liberation and equality.
“The Promised Land” — (Biography, R, 127 minutes). An impoverished war hero is hoping to farm crops on land that seems nothing can be grown on to gain the title of King.
“She is Conan” — (Action, not rated, 105 minutes). Show’s Conan’s life from the Sumerian area to the near future.
“Wish” — (Animation, PG, 92 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. When Asha makes a wish, a little ball of energy named Star appears and together they must confront the Ruler of Rosas to save the community.
“Wonka” — (Adventure, PG, 116 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. A poor and young Willy Wonka discovers that the chocolate industry is run by a gang of greedy chocolatiers when he pursues his dream of opening a chocolate shop.
“The Zone of Interest” — (Drama, PG-13, 105 minutes). The commandant of Auschwitz and his wife try to build a life for their family while living next to the camp.
