Coroner releases autopsies of Colorado Springs children allegedly killed by mother

Two elementary school children killed in Colorado Springs during late December suffered gunshot wounds and cuts to the neck, autopsies show.
Kimberlee Singler is believed by police to have murdered both children on Dec. 18.

She is awaiting extradition in London, a process that could take months, experts previously told The Gazette. Singler was embroiled in a contentious divorce and custody battled prior to fleeing the country after the deaths of her children.
El Paso County Coroner’s Office autopsies released Friday show Singler’s daughter Elianna “Ellie” Wentz, 9, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and cuts to her neck that caused her death.
Her brother, Aden Wentz, 7, was killed by a gunshot to his head, an autopsy states. He suffered neck wounds as well.
The autopsies also found high levels of doxylamine, which can be used as a sleep aid and anti-nausea medication, the report states.
The same day her two younger children died, Singler is also believed to have injured herself and her 11-year-old at her home near Stetson Hills and Tutt boulevards. She reported the attack to the Colorado Springs police as a burglary at 12:39 a.m. on Dec. 19.
On Dec. 26, police obtained an arrest warrant for Singler and starting searching for her. She was arrested four days later in London.
If Singler’s extradition is approved she will face 10 charges, including two charges of first-degree murder and another of attempted murder.
