Memorial for Colorado Ballet’s Kresten Wolff will be streamed today
A memorial celebration will be held at 4 p.m. today (Thursday) for Kresten Wolff, the Colorado Ballet Academy composer who died Feb. 5 in an auto collision in Arvada.
The family has asked that only family, friends and those who knew Wolff personally attend the event in person at the Arvada Vineyard church, 5855 Wadsworth Bypass. However, the public is welcome to participate via a Zoom link at youtube.com, said Colorado Ballet spokesperson Rachel Perez.
“If you had the privilege of spending any amount of time with Kresten, please join us,” his wife, Alicia Castillo Wolff, posted on Facebook.

Wolff, who served as a pianist and accompanist for Colorado Ballet Academy, was driving his two children home from school when, police believe, 23-year-old Juan Ortega Torres Jr. ran a red light, collided into Wolff’s sedan and sent it into the side of a home on the northeast corner of 64th Avenue and Lamar Street. Wolff was just a few miles from arriving at home when the collision happened.
The children, ages 10 and 7, were taken to the hospital, one with serious injuries. No updates on their conditions have been released. However, Castillo additionally posted: “Thank you again for your love and support. It means the world to us.”
A GoFundMe campaign to support Castillo and their children has raised $170,000 as of Wednesday.
Torres was arrested pending the filing of additional charges.
Kresten Wolff, who created compositions for the Colorado Ballet Academy, died Monday in a horrific crash in Arvada. He was 44.
