VIDEO: Power goes out for drivers in 1.7-mile-long Eisenhower-Johnson tunnel in Colorado

A spooky situation unfolded in Colorado’s famous Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel today, when the lighting that illuminates the underground route turned off.

Footage shared on X.com by CBS Colorado reporter Spencer Wilson captured the eerie sight.

According to a report from the Colorado Department of Transportation published at 11:28 a.m., westbound lanes ultimately closed as a result of the outage, though eastbound lanes remained open. The alert about the occurrence and closure has since expired.

Even still, many Coloradans passing through the duo of 1.7-mile tunnels have likely wondered ‘what if the power goes out.’ We now have an answer.
