Longmont police arrest shooting suspect after pursuit

The pursuit ended in Hygiene Wednesday afternoon

Longmont Police arrested a man outside of Hygiene, Colo., Wednesday after an alleged shooting and vehicular pursuit.

Longmont officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Goshawk Drive around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on reports that a woman had been shot in the driveway of a home. The suspect allegedly fled the home near East Mountain View and Deerwood Drive, according to a news release from the Longmont Police Department.

Police then identified the suspect’s vehicle — a white Subaru Outback — near Lyons. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled. The pursuit traveled eastward from Lyons toward Hygiene.

Officers eventually deflated the vehicle’s tires, stopping the pursuit. The suspect was then taken into custody, according to the department.

The victim, who is said to have known the suspect, was taken to a nearby hospital. Her medical status is currently unknown.

Longmont Police ask that anyone who witnessed the shooting or have surveillance video from the area contact investigators at 303-651-8501 and reference Longmont Police report 24-2552.
