Pedestrian killed by vehicle, fleeing suspect still sought by Thornton police

A car fled the scene in Thornton after fatally hitting a pedestrian on Sunday morning, police said.

Thornton police said they found a man dead in the westbound lane of the 2500 Block of East 120th Avenue, but the suspected driver had fled the scene.

Police closed the around to traffic as they began their investigation of the scene around 6:43 a.m.

The driver is likely to face charges of careless driving resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident, a Thornton police spokesperson said.

Police closed westbound 120th for multiple hours, the spokesperson added.

Police are working to develop suspect information and the investigation is ongoing.
