Broncos announce ‘full redesign’ of uniforms with logo and team colors to remain the same

The new uniforms will be “respectful to our history and traditions,” the Broncos said

ORLANDO, Fla. — The fans wanted them. The players wanted them. Now they’re getting them.

The Broncos revealed Monday the team will don new uniforms in 2024. The announcement came on social media with the Broncos declaring “coming soon” and showing threads filling in a logo in a 10-second video.

“We had a little fun with that (Monday) morning,’’ Broncos president Damani Leech said at the NFL owners meetings. “I think it went over pretty well.’’

Leech said the Broncos, whose team colors are orange, navy blue and white, will have the “same colors and same logo, but a full redesign of the uniform.” It will be the first redesign since 1997.

Leech said more than 10,000 surveys were sent out to fans in the fall of 2022. About 75% of the respondents wanted new uniforms with most of them requesting the same colors and logo. He said players also were polled.

“We also surveyed our players, and most of them wanted new uniforms, as well,’’ Leech said. “I think there is a sense of freshness. This is important to our fans, but it’s also important for our players. We want them to feel good and be inspired. We talked about them being super suits when they go out on the field.”

Leech said full details on the new uniforms will be announced “in the next few weeks.” In the meantime, he and owner Greg Penner dropped some hints about the new threads.

“It’s time for a change and we think we’ll have something that honors ‘Broncos Country’ and our fans will be pleased with elements of Colorado,’’ Penner said.

Leech said the new uniforms will be “respectful to our history and traditions.” He said “from a geographic standpoint, there will be nods to that.”

In August 2022, the Walton-Penner ownership group took over and Leech was hired. The process began soon after that to come up with new uniforms.

“We sent out surveys in the fall (of 2022), and we officially began the process with the league and with Nike in January of last year,’’ Leech said. “It’s quite a lengthy process.”

Broncos officials, including Leech, Penner and owner Carrie Walton Penner, visited Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., last spring to start working on designs. He called it a “great experience” dealing with the company.

NFL rules require teams to give the league a one-year notice on a uniform change that doesn’t involve a logo or color alteration. It’s a two-year process if a team wants to change its logo or colors.

“I think we’re going to have something that we’ll be excited about,’’ Penner said.
