1 dead following pedestrian crash in Adams County

A pedestrian-automobile crash in Adams County led to the death of one person, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP). 

Troopers responded to a crash near the intersection of West 55th Place and Lowell Boulevard, south of Berkley, around 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to CSP. One victim — a pedestrian — was confirmed deceased following the incident.

Police shut off both the southbound and northbound lanes of Lowell Boulevard following the crash, leading to a detour in the area while investigations begin. The lanes continue to be shutdown as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Colorado saw a record-breaking number of 136 pedestrian crash deaths in 2023, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. 

The year 2022 saw the state’s highest number on record, with 115 deaths. This number represented 15% of the state’s total traffic fatalities.

2024 has already begun with multiple pedestrian fatalities throughout the Denver metro.
