Colorado city experiences wettest year since at least 1893
It’s been a wet spring in much of Colorado – and not just wetter than normal, it’s been record-setting in some places.
According to the National Weather Service, the city of Boulder on Colorado’s Front Range has gotten 7.53 inches of precipitation since January 1, 2024. That’s enough to make it the wettest year on record since 1893 – when records were first kept.
The South Platte River Basin, which includes Boulder, currently sits at 108 percent of the to-date norm in terms of snowpack. This is roughly the same gap compared to what’s being seen on a statewide level, with statewide snowpack sitting at 109 percent of the norm as of April 2.
It’s also worth noting that Boulder has several more days of precipitation in the near future, according to The Weather Channel, with a good chance of rain seven of the next 14 days.
