Stargazing resort coming to ‘world’s largest alpine valley’ in Colorado

Night sky enthusiasts are sure to delight in a new lodging option that’s coming to the world’s largest high-alpine valley – the San Luis Valley in Colorado. Far from light pollution and at an elevation of about 7,600 feet, Kosmos Resort plans to provide a celestial view and stargazing experience that’s unmatched.

Located about 15 minutes from the Great Sand Dunes National Park – which happens to be a certified International Dark Sky Park thanks to the starry night view found in the area – Kosmos Resort will feature 16 ‘Stargazing’ villas that can accommodate up to four people, as well as four ‘Galaxy’ villas that can accommodate up to eight.

In the center of the resort, guests will find a planetarium, observatory, interactive learning museum, and educational center. The resort will also offer guided stargazing sessions and astrophotography workshops, as well as various wellness spa treatments.

“Our vision for Kosmos Resort is to create a space where guests can connect with the cosmos, restore alignment of the mind, body, and soul, and build meaningful connections with loved ones,” says Gamal Zalaquett, Founder and CEO. “We believe that by fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the universe, we can inspire positive change in the way we travel.”

The current plan is for villa development to start in the fourth quarter of 2024, with ongoing development of the site slated for 2025 and 2026. A crowdfunding campaign will be launching this summer, which will offer a 50 percent booking discount and early access.
