Ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin now engaged to Aleksander Kilde
Ski-racing mega star Mikaela Shiffrin is now engaged to long-time boyfriend and fellow Norwegian ski racer Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, the couple announced Friday on social media platforms.
The selfie photo of the sports power couple, taken near the Annasaule monument in the Austrian ski town of Innsbruck, shows the two smiling and showing off some jewelry on Shiffrin’s left hand.
The two have been dating since early 2021.
Kilde, known as the ‘the Arnold Schwarzenegger of Skiing’ and Shiffrin as ‘Sir-naps-a-lot’ and ‘the Queen of ski racing’ both suffered injuries in the 204 FIS Alpine ski racing season, however, Shiffrin was able to return to ski racing and win the overall World Cup globe in slalom while now fiancé Kilde recovered after a season-ending injury on the downhill course at Wengen, Switzerland on Jan. 13.
Shiffrin suffered her injury on the downhill course at Cortina d’Ampezzo downhill on Jan. 26.
Shiffrin is set to be ready to race 100% at the start of the 2025 World Cup season in late fall 2024, but Kilde’s path to skiing at full strength is somewhat of a question mark.
“If I am going to return, something must change at the very top of the (Norwegian) Ski Federation,” Aamodt Kilde told NRK.no in an interview published on Feb. 7.
