Stunning Colorado waterfall features a restaurant at the bottom for unique dining experience
As one of Colorado’s many natural wonders, The Broadmoor Seven Falls has been a staple of the Pikes Peak Region since 1883. With stunning scenic views, a restaurant, and zipline courses, the Falls makes for a great summer destination.
As part of the “grandest mile of scenery in Colorado,” the Seven Falls are located in Colorado Springs’ South Cheyenne Canyon. Each of the Seven Falls has a name. The Falls, named Ramona, Feather, Bridal Veil, Shorty, Hull, Weimer, and Hill, cascade down a natural amphitheater of the main canyon from 181 feet.
After buying the property in 1882, James Hull built a road to Seven Falls, added a toll gate, and charged visitors a 10-cent toll to see the Falls. The wooden stairway was later upgraded to iron in 1891 and in 1904, C.D. Weimer purchased the land, holding onto it until 1946. As tourists traveled to Colorado Springs by train, the Falls became quite the attraction.
The area’s popularity continued to grow when Al Hill purchased the Seven Falls in 1946 and added a tunnel and elevator for viewing from Eagle’s Nest. Lights were even added for nighttime viewing.
The property was sold to Philip Anschutz and The Broadmoor in 2014, and it transformed into the attraction it is today. Restaurant 1858 now sits at the base of the Falls, providing a unique dining experience and embarking on the full two-course Broadmoor Soaring Adventure zip line tour became another great way to experience the destination. The ‘Woods’ course takes you over creeks, valleys, and trails while the ‘Fins’ course sends participants soaring over rock formations, cliffs, and across the Seven Falls Canyon, ending with a 180-foot rappel to the canyon floor.
Visitors must buy tickets online to experience the waterfalls.
With its cascading waters and towering granite walls, the Broadmoor Seven Falls stands as an iconic Colorado attraction as well as a testament to the state’s natural splendor.
