An SUV crashed into the back of a Brighton school bus early Thursday morning, leading to the driver being taken to a nearby hospital.
Brighton police responded to a crash report involving a school bus on East Bridge Street near South 11th Avenue around 8 a.m. Thursday, according to a press release from the Brighton Police Department.
A 34-year-old female driving an Acura MDX was traveling westbound when she struck the back of the bus, according to the release. Preliminary investigations showed that the driver was at fault.
There were 16 students on the school bus during the crash. The students and the bus driver only reported minor injuries following the incident. The driver of the SUV, on the other hand, was taken to a hospital with injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, police say. Speed and impairment do not seem to be factors in the incident.
