A 51-year-old man on Tuesday was arrested in Arizona in connection with a March 29 homicide in Denver, police announced.
Francisco Ivan Romero was arrested “with the assistance of law enforcement in Arizona,” the Denver Police Department said in a news release Wednesday. He’s being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.
The arrest stemmed from a fatal shooting in the 1600 block of South Federal Boulevard at 6:50 a.m. on March 29 that killed 35-year-old Luis Gomez Reyes, police said.
Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene.
Denver police said Romero was arrested in Pima County, Arizona, but did not give specifics on how investigators came to identify him as a suspect in the homicide or any additional details surrounding his apprehension.
The arrest affidavit for Romero was sealed, police said.
The Denver District Attorney’s office will be in charge of determining what charges, if any, Romero will face, police said.
