Aurora police are investigating after a man fell into Aurora Reservoir on Monday morning and later died at a hospital.
The incident is being investigated as an “accidental death,” according to Aurora Police spokesman Joe Moylan.
Aurora Fire Rescue said the incident started around 9:25 a.m. when a small boat capsized and the man fell into the reservoir, which is located at 5800 S Powhaton Rd.
Aurora Reservoir Park Rangers were able to pull the man out of the water and provide first aid, officials said.
When Aurora Fire Rescue arrived on scene a short time later, they administered advanced life support and then took the man to a local hospital.
During the rescue response, the South Metro Fire Rescue’s dive team was called, but then dismissed when rescue workers determined everyone was out of the water.
Aurora Fire Rescue said it also searched the shoreline but didn’t find any other people who were injured.
The man’s name was not immediately released.
