Once an “Isolated Empire” (the area was virtually unknown until 1947’s major oil discovery garnered attention), Rangely is always ready to extend open arms to visitors and newcomers alike. Kenney Reservoir and the White River that runs through the heart of Rangely offer incredible opportunities for outdoor recreation … and stunning views!

A marina, campgrounds and wildlife viewing area can be found at Kenney Reservoir, which is a beautiful place to picnic. Visitors have free entry between April and November to boat, participate in watersports, swim and fish (valid license required). Various fish species include Black Bullhead, Black Crappie, Carp, Catfish, Green Sunfish, Rainbow Trout and Whitefish. A small fee to camp provides access to restrooms, potable water, fire pits and picnic tables in a shaded area with space for kids to play in the sand or on the grass.

Imagine being able to spy a large population of Bald and Gold Eagles, beavers, elk, mule deer and river otters through your binoculars, or photograph ducks, grebes, gulls, heron, loons, osprey, and terns.

Can you imagine a better backdrop than the lush scenery of the White River to kayak, paddleboard, and tube on the water? This paradise for floaters and paddlers will soon have a new river put-in for small watercraft, making the river even more accessible!

June 6-9 – Butch Cassidy Wild Bunch Days: The infamous exploits of the Wild Bunch can be experienced in an exciting, action-packed adventure.

June 30-July 4 – 4th of July Celebration: A weekend of food, family, fun and an impressive fireworks display on Independence Day!
