A house in Aurora where police served a search warrant on Wednesday morning was found to have people inside compressing fentanyl powder into pills, according to a spokesperson for the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The Aurora Police Department SWAT assisted Denver Police with serving a search warrant in the 1800 block of South Olathe Street. Officers with Denver Police were conducting a narcotics-related search warrant at a single home, according to Denver Police.
Two people were taken into custody on unrelated warrants, Denver Police said.
Police were treating the response as a possible hazmat situation, which they said was contained to the home. Just before noon, a 9NEWS photographer on scene saw three dogs removed from the home and was also told three young children were removed earlier that morning.
Around 7 a.m., Aurora Police posted a shelter-in-place alert on the social platform X. The shelter-in-place order was issued for residents within a square block of the scene. At around 7:47 a.m., the order was lifted.
Investigators are expected to be on the scene for several hours.
